The reinforcement of concrete structures through the use of composites is the most widespread application of these materials in the engineering sector. However, lack of relevant regulations (there are recommendations only) causes the calculation methods traditionally used, not optimize or type or amount of FRP used.

Against any change in the structural or functional element (loss of structural capacity of the element, progressive deterioration of materials, change of use of the structure, errors of execution or project) design viable solutions, quick to implement and saves money compared to traditional solutions when considering the complete cycle of the building process.

Additionally, minimizing interference that cause the rehabilitation work in the environment where they do, so in the case of structural rehabilitation, the runtime is considerably reduced compared to screed concrete solutions or metal plates. Of note is the high interest that presents the solution in the case of rehabilitation of buildings with basements for car parks, where the loss of space than a traditional concrete screed is, limit the parking spaces that result. With an efficient and optimized design, we can solve this and other problems that usually our customers have.

ACF's technical team has over 10 years of experience in the design and implementation of both fiber reinforced carbon and glass. Result, we apply our design calculation methods that enable us to ensure the required structural capacity, economically optimize the solution we propose.

Our designs include:

- An analysis of the parameters that influence the stress transfer at the interface between concrete - composite, to ensure the proper functioning of the reinforcement.

- A longitudinal discretization of the phenomenon of adhesion between both materials in order to establish a gradual transition, on the one hand, allows the stress transfer safely without compromising the adhesive used, and secondly to optimize the amount and type of fiber and resin used, and this increases the cost savings of the intervention.

- A previous analysis of the mechanical properties of the concrete surface, ensuring that faults as common as delamination or slippage will not occur without having to use mechanical anchors.

- In the case of jacketed outer rectangular reinforced concrete columns, a technique of designing and implementing valid for this type of structures considering the actual section that is affected by the reinforcement.

-  Design considering the implementation of reinforcement, suggesting from the outset our clients those less expensive reinforcement solutions from those that meet the technical requirements, and can be executed at the lowest possible cost.
